14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;
15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ,” Ephesians 4:13-15 (Emphasis added).
In this article, I want to focus on how we reach the unity of the faith, the importance of sound doctrine, and the importance of truth.
Let us first of all focus on the verses 7, 11, 12, and 13 to get the sense of how we reach this unity of faith: “But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. … And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, …” Let us first always remember that salvation and the building up of the body of Christ is always the sovereign work of Christ. Christ gives us the grace and specific gifts to accomplish His purpose. “for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13.
We need to determine how important is truth. We need to determine how important is sound doctrine. We need to determine which doctrine of salvation is best taught and supported by Scripture. We need to determine how important it is to believe and teach the true doctrine of salvation. Click here to learn how Calvinism is the true doctrine of salvation
