The Word of God Performs Its Work

As some of you may know, I am daily reading through Scripture in its order.  Today’s devotion included I Thessalonians 2:13 which is quoted below.

“For this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe.”  (Emphasis added).

We should not need to remind each other of the unique living power of Scripture, but we do need to do so.  And, Paul also here reminds us that the word of God performs its work.

I am continually amazed at how little Scripture is even in Reformed blogs that I read.  They are filled with every kind of argument and reference to the writings of theologians, but there is so little Scripture.

Let us recognize our belief in the word of God which performs its work by filling our writings with it.
