“All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.”

Today’s devotion is Matthew 13:31-35.

“31  He presented another parable to them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field;

32  and this is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that THE BIRDS OF THE AIR come and NEST IN ITS BRANCHES.”

 33  He spoke another parable to them, “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three pecks of flour until it was all leavened.”

 34  All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables, and He did not speak to them without a parable.

 35  This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
         “I WILL OPEN MY MOUTH IN PARABLES;
         I WILL UTTER THINGS HIDDEN SINCE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD.”  Matthew 13:31-35.  (Emphasis added.)

These verses obviously speak of the spread of the Gospel throughout the world to every part of the world, like leaven, and the growth of the Gospel, like a mustard seed, from Jesus and his 12 disciples to “a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues”.

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;  and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”  Revelation 7:9-10.  Notice all the praise and glory goes to our God.

And, for good reason, there was no other one to intercede and bring salvation:
“16  And He saw that there was no man,
         And was astonished that there was no one to intercede;
         Then His own arm brought salvation to Him,
         And His righteousness upheld Him.
        17  He put on righteousness like a breastplate,
         And a helmet of salvation on His head;
         And He put on garments of vengeance for clothing
         And wrapped Himself with zeal as a mantle.
        18  According to their deeds, so He will repay,
         Wrath to His adversaries, recompense to His enemies;
         To the coastlands He will make recompense.
        19  So they will fear the name of the LORD from the west
         And His glory from the rising of the sun,
         For He will come like a rushing stream
         Which the wind of the LORD drives.
      20  “A Redeemer will come to Zion,
         And to those who turn from transgression in Jacob,” declares the LORD.”

21  “As for Me, this is My covenant with them,” says the LORD: “My Spirit which is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your offspring, nor from the mouth of your offspring’s offspring,” says the LORD, “from now and forever.”  Isaiah 59:16-21.

So, what should be our response?:

“O sing to the LORD a new song,
         For He has done wonderful things,
         His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him.
     The LORD has made known His salvation;
         He has revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations.
     He has remembered His lovingkindness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel;
         All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.”  Psalm 98:1-3.
