Today’s devotion comes from Judges 1:1-10. Here is a link to this Scripture – https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Judges%201&version=NASB1995
I quote only the following verses.
“Now it came about after the death of Joshua that the sons of Israel inquired of the LORD, saying, “Who shall go up first for us against the Canaanites, to fight against them?” The LORD said, “Judah shall go up; behold, I have given the land into his hand.” Then Judah said to Simeon his brother, “Come up with me into the territory allotted me, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I in turn will go with you into the territory allotted you.” So Simeon went with him. Judah went up, and the LORD gave the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hands, and they defeated ten thousand men at Bezek. They found Adoni-bezek in Bezek and fought against him, and they defeated the Canaanites and the Perizzites. But Adoni-bezek fled; and they pursued him and caught him and cut off his thumbs and big toes. Adoni-bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and their big toes cut off used to gather up scraps under my table; as I have done, so God has repaid me.” So they brought him to Jerusalem and he died there.” Judges 1:1-7.

Today’s Scripture leads us to meditate on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Who is the Lion of Judah. Revelation 5:5. Jesus is a descendant of Judah. Matthew 1:1-3.
First, in today’s Scripture, we see the total dominion that Judah had over Israel’s enemies. “The LORD said, “Judah shall go up; behold, I have given the land into his hand.” Verse 2. We also see that Judah asked his brother Simeon to go fight with him. “So Simeon went with him.” Verse 3.
We are reminded about the prophecy about Judah, which in turn, reminds us of Jesus.
“8 “Judah, your brothers shall praise you;
Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies;
Your father’s sons shall bow down to you.
9 “Judah is a lion’s whelp;
From the prey, my son, you have gone up.
He couches, he lies down as a lion,
And as a lion, who dares rouse him up?
10 “The scepter shall not depart from Judah,
Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet,
Until Shiloh comes,
And to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.” Genesis 49:8-10.
“7 “I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD:
He said to Me, ‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
8 ‘Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance,
And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.
9 ‘You shall break them with a rod of iron,
You shall shatter them like earthenware.’”
10 Now therefore, O kings, show discernment;
Take warning, O judges of the earth.
11 Worship the LORD with reverence
And rejoice with trembling.
12 Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way,
For His wrath may soon be kindled.
How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!” Psalm 2:7-12.
“But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence.” Luke 19:27.
“For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.” 1 Corinthians 15:25.
“Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.” Revelation 19:6.
“To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 5:11.
