“His feet were like burnished bronze” – “So I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked, And I will redeem you”

Today’s devotion comes from 1 Kings 7:23-47.  Here is a link to this Scripture – 1 Kings 7 NASB1995 – – Bible Gateway

I quote only the following verses.

“Now Hiram made the basins and the shovels and the bowls.  So Hiram finished doing all the work which he performed for King Solomon in the house of the LORD:  the two pillars and the two bowls of the capitals which were on the top of the two pillars, and the two networks to cover the two bowls of the capitals which were on the top of the pillars;  and the four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, two rows of pomegranates for each network to cover the two bowls of the capitals which were on the tops of the pillars;  and the ten stands with the ten basins on the stands;  and the one sea and the twelve oxen under the sea;  and the pails and the shovels and the bowls;  even all these utensils which Hiram made for King Solomon in the house of the LORD were of polished bronze.  In the plain of the Jordan the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zarethan.  Solomon left all the utensils unweighed, because they were too many;  the weight of the bronze could not be ascertained.”  1 Kings 7:40-47.

————-

“The two pillars, the one sea, and the twelve bronze bulls that were under the sea, and the stands, which King Solomon had made for the house of the LORD—the bronze of all these vessels was beyond weight.”  Jeremiah 52:20.

Bronze is a strong metal.  Bronze is a symbol of strength.

“Can anyone smash iron,
Iron from the north, or bronze?” Jeremiah 15:12.

“20 “Then I will make you to this people
A fortified wall of bronze;
And though they fight against you,
They will not prevail over you;
For I am with you to save you
And deliver you,” declares the LORD.
21 “So I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked,
And I will redeem you from the grasp of the violent.” Jeremiah 15:20-21.

The use of bronze in the temple points us to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

“His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters.  In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword;  and His face was like the sun shining in its strength.”  Revelation 1:15-16.
