“But we have the mind of Christ.”

Today’s devotion comes from 1 Corinthians 2:14-16.

14  But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him;  and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.

15  But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one.

16  For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM?  But we have the mind of Christ.”  1 Corinthians 2:14-16.

——————–

Time magazine arrived at my desk yesterday demanding my attention and demanding my acknowledgement that I am poor, because there is no middle class and I am certainly not super-rich.

We use to get one newspaper and three television stations which would broadcast the news once a day.  Now, we have all kinds of printed news sources, over 100 TV channels, the Internet, and “breaking news” and commentary 24-7.

Today, we can see the fulfillment of the prophesy:  “But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time;  many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase.”  Daniel 12:4

The problem is that many of these voices are from “the natural man”.  These “natural man” voices do not understand, but they are nevertheless too eager, willing, and able to bombard us with messages that there is no hope.

But, there is hope!

Today’s Scripture instructs us that “we have the mind of Christ.”

And, if that was not good enough.  Let us review the last two chapters.

We have “the mind of Christ”.  1 Corinthians 2:16.  We are “taught by the Spirit”.  1 Corinthians 2:10-13.  By God’s doing, we are in Christ “who became to us wisdom from God and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption”.  1 Corinthians 1:30.

In a world that bombards us with messages us of no hope, this Holy Trinity fills us with hope, protects us, empowers us, and saves us.
