Our Only Hope

Revelation 20:11 states:  “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them.”  (Emphasis added.).

In this prophecy, we consider the holiness and power of Almighty God, such that earth and heaven will flee away from the presence of Almighty God.  How can we think that we will be able to stand in the presence of God???!!!

Think about it.  We are people of frail flesh.  What are we compared to mountains?!!!  How can we think that we will be able to stand in the presence of God???!!!

Moreover, we are people who sin.  The earth and heavens do not sin, and yet they will flee away from the presence of God.  How can we think that we will be able to stand in the presence of God???!!!

What hope is there for us, frail sinners???!!!

Our best works are filthy rags.  Paul said:  “We …put no confidence in the flesh, although I myself might have confidence even in the flesh. If anyone else has a mind to put confidence in the flesh, I far more:  circumcised the eighth day, of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the Law, a Pharisee;  as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to the righteousness which is in the Law, found blameless.  But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ,”  Philippians 3:3-8.

Our only hope is God.  We are totally dependent on God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to enable us to stand in His presence.  Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy,”  Jude 1:24.
