Today’s devotion comes from Psalm 91:1-9. Due to the length of this devotion and the importance of God’s dwelling places, we will pause a few days to meditate on today’s devotion. The next devotion, God willing, will be on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust!”
3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper
And from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with His pinions,
And under His wings you may seek refuge;
His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.
5 You will not be afraid of the terror by night,
Or of the arrow that flies by day;
6 Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.
7 A thousand may fall at your side
And ten thousand at your right hand,
But it shall not approach you.
8 You will only look on with your eyes
And see the recompense of the wicked.
9 For you have made the LORD, my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place.“
Psalm 91:1-9.

“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” Psalm 91:8.
On my desktop computer, I leave the far left tab always open to hold my Reformed Doctrine Daily Devotions. And, it usually shows the last devotion that I posted.
But, I like to have other tabs open for other aps such as Detroit Free Press, CBS Sports, YouTube, and news aps.
Yesterday, I was looking at YouTube Shorts video clips and found myself dwelling too much on a TV show.
God immediately drew my attention to my Reformed Doctrine Daily Devotions and the following section of the last devotion which was open on the left tab:
Other Scriptures reveal the power and the punishment of the LORD, which are additional reasons to fear the LORD.
“The LORD has established His throne in the heavens,
And His sovereignty rules over all.” Psalm 103:19.
“8 Let all the earth fear the LORD;
Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
9 For He spoke, and it was done;
He commanded, and it stood fast.
10 The LORD nullifies the counsel of the nations;
He frustrates the plans of the peoples.
11 The counsel of the LORD stands forever,
The plans of His heart from generation to generation.
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance.” Psalm 33:8-11.
“2 … Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
3 Fire goes before Him
And burns up His adversaries round about.” Psalm 97:2-3.
“11 God is a righteous judge,
And a God who has indignation every day.
12 If a man does not repent, He will sharpen His sword;
He has bent His bow and made it ready.
13 He has also prepared for Himself deadly weapons;
He makes His arrows fiery shafts.” Psalm 7:11-13.
Oh how God used my devotion to convict me of my sin of my mind dwelling on such things!
But, there is hope!
After convicting me, God graciously brought my attention to the conclusion of this same devotion titled: “But, there is hope!”.
And today, God presents all the magnificent and glorious promises of today’s Scripture of Psalm 91:1-9 above!
And so, in addition to today’s Scripture, we will also look at some additional Scriptures, all from the Book of Psalms, about dwelling places of the LORD in the spirit of the Scripture above: “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” Psalm 91:8.
“O LORD, who may abide in Your tent?
Who may dwell on Your holy hill?
2 He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness,
And speaks truth in his heart.” Psalm 15:1-2.
“Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” Psalm 23:6.
“Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD?
And who may stand in His holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood
And has not sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive a blessing from the LORD
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.” Psalm 24:3-5.
“O send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me;
Let them bring me to Your holy hill
And to Your dwelling places.” Psalm 43:3.
“Hear my cry, O God;
Give heed to my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3 For You have been a refuge for me,
A tower of strength against the enemy.
4 Let me dwell in Your tent forever;
Let me take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. Selah.” Psalm 61:1-4.
“How lovely are Your dwelling places,
O Lord of hosts!
2 My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.
…
4 How blessed are those who dwell in Your house!
They are ever praising You. Selah.
…
10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside.
I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God
Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
The LORD gives grace and glory;
No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
12 O LORD of hosts,
How blessed is the man who trusts in You!” Psalm 84:1-2 and 4 and 10-12.
“How blessed is the one whom You choose and bring near to You
To dwell in Your courts.
We will be satisfied with the goodness of Your house,
Your holy temple.” Psalm 65:4.
