Reformed Doctrine Daily Devotions

First of all, let us meditate on the first verse.  “But I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe.”  It is amazing and gives us insight into “Total Depravity”, the “T” of “TULIP”, the Five Points of Calvinism a/k/a Reformed Doctrine.

Here are people who saw Jesus and the power of His miracles, and yet they did not believe.  Here are people who heard Jesus and the wisdom of His words, and yet they did not believe.  Here are people who observed Jesus and His grace and truth, and yet they did not believe. 

We wonder why some members of our family and some of our friends do not believe 2,000 years later.  And yet, there were people who directly saw, heard, and otherwise observed Jesus did not believe.

The truth of “Total Depravity” is more evident. 

“¹⁰  as it is written,
         “THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE;
    ¹¹  THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS,
         THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD;
    ¹²  ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS;
         THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD,
         THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE.”  Romans 3:10-12.

So, what is our hope?

Irresistible Grace!  The “I” of “TULIP”, the Five Points of Calvinism a/k/a Reformed Doctrine.  The second verse of our devotion today.

“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.”  John 6:34-37. 

Jesus later adds a few verse later:  “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him;  and I will raise him up on the last day.”  John 6:44.
