Today’s devotion is John 8:12.
“Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” John 8:12.
———————–
Our focus is on Jesus Christ. Jesus is “the Light of the world”. Jesus is “the Light of life”. “In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.” John 1:4.
He “who follows Me will not walk in the darkness”.
So, what is it like to walk in darkness?
Psalm 82:5
“They do not know nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are shaken.”
“They do not know nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are shaken.”
“From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness; Who delight in doing evil And rejoice in the perversity of evil; Whose paths are crooked, And who are devious in their ways;” Proverbs 2:13-15.
“9 Therefore justice is far from us,
And righteousness does not overtake us;
We hope for light, but behold, darkness,
For brightness, but we walk in gloom.
10 We grope along the wall like blind men,
We grope like those who have no eyes;
We stumble at midday as in the twilight,
Among those who are vigorous we are like dead men.
11 All of us growl like bears,
And moan sadly like doves;
We hope for justice, but there is none,
For salvation, but it is far from us.
12 For our transgressions are multiplied before You,
And our sins testify against us;
For our transgressions are with us,
And we know our iniquities:
13 Transgressing and denying the LORD,
And turning away from our God,
Speaking oppression and revolt,
Conceiving in and uttering from the heart lying words.
14 Justice is turned back,
And righteousness stands far away;
For truth has stumbled in the street,
And uprightness cannot enter.” Isaiah 59:9-14.

We cannot stand to read any more about walking in darkness. Is there any hope for light?
Isaiah 9:2
“The people who walk in darkness Will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, The light will shine on them.”
“The people who walk in darkness Will see a great light; Those who live in a dark land, The light will shine on them.”
Isaiah 50:10
“Who is among you that fears the LORD, That obeys the voice of His servant, That walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.”
