30 They answered and said to him, “If this Man were not an evildoer, we would not have delivered Him to you.”
31 So Pilate said to them, “Take Him yourselves, and judge Him according to your law.” The Jews said to him, “We are not permitted to put anyone to death,”
32 to fulfill the word of Jesus which He spoke, signifying by what kind of death He was about to die.” John 18:28-32.

Regarding this word of Jesus that was fulfilled as stated in this last verse of 32, Jesus prophesied: “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and will hand Him over to the Gentiles to mock and scourge and crucify Him, and on the third day He will be raised up.” Matthew 20:18-19.
Scripture confirms that the word of God is always fulfilled. Scripture points this truth out many times. Not one word of God has failed. Here is a link to the keyword “fulfill”. One of my favorite Scriptures is Joshua 23:14. Joshua stated: “Now behold, today I am going the way of all the earth, and you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one word of all the good words which the LORD your God spoke concerning you has failed; all have been fulfilled for you, not one of them has failed.”
We too, men and women of all ages, can and should declare the faithfulness of God. It is particularly important that we of old age (elders, literally and figuratively) declare the faithfulness of God. We have the respect of the congregation and other observers. We have the most experiences over the years to give examples of God’s faithfulness and to give the most believable conclusion of the faithfulness of God.
“12 The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree,
He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Planted in the house of the LORD,
They will flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They will still yield fruit in old age;
They shall be full of sap and very green,
15 To declare that the LORD is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” Psalm 92:12-15.
“23 The steps of a man are established by the LORD,
And He delights in his way.
24 When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong,
Because the LORD is the One who holds his hand.
25 I have been young and now I am old,
Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken
Or his descendants begging bread.
26 All day long he is gracious and lends,
And his descendants are a blessing.” Psalm 37:23-26.
