Plan A: “I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness”

Today’s devotion comes from Romans 3:1-8.

“1  Then what advantage has the Jew?  Or what is the benefit of circumcision?

2  Great in every respect.  First of all, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God.

3  What then?  If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it?

4  May it never be!  Rather, let God be found true, though every man be found a liar, as it is written,
“THAT YOU MAY BE JUSTIFIED IN YOUR WORDS,
AND PREVAIL WHEN YOU ARE JUDGED.”

5  But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say?  The God who inflicts wrath is not unrighteous, is He?  (I am speaking in human terms.)

6  May it never be!  For otherwise, how will God judge the world?

7  But if through my lie the truth of God abounded to His glory, why am I also still being judged as a sinner?

8  And why not say (as we are slanderously reported and as some claim that we say), “Let us do evil that good may come”?  Their condemnation is just.”  Romans 3:1-8.

There is no Plan B.  God did not set up Plan A in which God provided creation, the Law, and all the other oracles of God, and then man nullified that plan by still refusing to believe in God, so God had to then proceed with Plan B.  There has only been one plan and perfect execution of that plan.

Consider Isaiah 46: 9-11:
“Remember the former things long past,
For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is no one like Me,
Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things which have not been done,
Saying, ‘My purpose will be established,
And I will accomplish all My good pleasure‘;
Calling a bird of prey from the east,
The man of My purpose from a far country.
Truly I have spoken; truly I will bring it to pass.
I have planned it, surely I will do it.”

“Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as referring to many, but rather to one, “And to your seed,” that is, Christ.  What I am saying is this:  the Law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise.  For if the inheritance is based on law, it is no longer based on a promise;  but God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise.”  Galatians 3:16-18.

Even going back to Adam, in His statement to the serpent, God promised a Savior:  “And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed;  He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel.”  Genesis 3:15.

“The LORD has made everything for its own purpose,
Even the wicked for the day of evil.”  Proverbs 16:4.

As today’s Scripture states:  “… our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God … “.  Romans 3:5.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  Romans 5:8.

“…  In all wisdom and insight He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him with a view to an administration suitable to the fullness of the times, that is, the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth.  …”  Ephesians 1:8-10.

“… He (God the Father) chose us in Him (God the Son, Jesus Christ) before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him.  …”.  Ephesians 1:4.

Plan A, the one and only plan, has been established by God to demonstrate God’s lovingkindness, justice and righteousness.  ““Thus says the LORD, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches;  but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth;  for I delight in these things,” declares the LORD.”  Jeremiah 9:23-24.
