Gold is precious. But, as desirable as gold is, “I love Your commandments Above gold”.

Today’s Scripture comes from Exodus 37:1-29, the whole chapter. Here is a link to this Scripture – http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus+37&version=NASB

I quote the following verses.

“Now Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood; its length was two and a half cubits, and its width one and a half cubits, and its height one and a half cubits; and he overlaid it with pure gold inside and out, and made a gold molding for it all around. He cast four rings of gold for it on its four feet; even two rings on one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it. He made poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold.” Exodus 37:1-4.

Exodus Chapter 37 details the construction of the ark, table, lampstand, and altar of incense. All of these items were either made of gold or overlaid with gold. As one example, Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood, and “he overlaid it with pure gold inside and out, and made a gold molding for it all around.” Gold is precious.

But, as desirable as gold is, …

“The law of Your mouth is better to me

Than thousands of gold and silver pieces.” Psalm 119:72.

“Therefore I love Your commandments

Above gold, yes, above fine gold.” Psalm 119:127.

“7 The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul;

The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

8 The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;

The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;

The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether.

10 They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold;

Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.

11 Moreover, by them Your servant is warned;

In keeping them there is great reward.” Psalm 19:7-11.
