“The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

Today’s devotion comes from Deuteronomy 31:1-8.  One more devotion before I leave today on my one week cruise vacation.

“1 So Moses went and spoke these words to all Israel.  2 And he said to them, “I am a hundred and twenty years old today;  I am no longer able to come and go, and the Lord has said to me, ‘You shall not cross this Jordan.’  3 It is the Lord your God who will cross ahead of you; He will destroy these nations before you, and you shall dispossess them. Joshua is the one who will cross ahead of you, just as the Lord has spoken.  4 The Lord will do to them just as He did to Sihon and Og, the kings of the Amorites, and to their land, when He destroyed them.  5 The Lord will deliver them up before you, and you shall do to them according to all the commandments which I have commanded you.  6 Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.”

7 Then Moses called to Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you shall go with this people into the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall give it to them as an inheritance.  8 The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you;  He will be with you.  He will not fail you or forsake you.  Do not fear or be dismayed.”  Deuteronomy 31:1-8.

——————-

Today, I am leaving to go on a cruise.  The forecast for each day during this next week is excellent:  sunny, highs around 70, and little wind.

Many of you also are either on vacation or on lighter holiday schedules.

And, for all of us, today is a day of worship and rest.

On the other hand, the easy days often pose the greatest pitfalls to us, because we tend to ignore God and just rely on ourselves.

Today’s Scripture reminds us that God will not fail us or forsake us on the easy days just like he won’t fail us or forsake us on the difficult days.  God will be with us.  God will go ahead of us to prepare everything for our good.

On the other hand, you won’t have my fresh daily devotions for this next week.

Today’s Scripture reminds us that God will not fail you nor forsake you.  God will be with you.  God will go before you.  He will provide other inspirations from other sources.  And, you can also always look up old devotions that I have stored up for you in the “Monthly Archives” in the right margin at my web site – https://reformeddoctrine.com/

The people of Israel thought they had it easy.  There were about to cross the river Jordan and enter the Promised Land.

On the other hand, Moses would not be going with them.

But, God provided Joshua for them.

In conclusion, there may seem in life that there is one hand providing us good and ease and the other hand providing us bad and difficulties.  But, Reformed Doctrine teaches us that there is only one set of sovereign hands that belong to our Heavenly Father Who causes all things to work together for our good (Romans 8:28) and Who repeatedly assures us:  “The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you;  He will be with you.  He will not fail you or forsake you.  Do not fear or be dismayed.”  Verse 8.
