“Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.”

Today’s devotion comes from 1 Chronicles chapter 14.  Here is a link to this chapter –

I quote only the following verses.

“1 Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedar trees, masons and carpenters, to build a house for him.  2 And David realized that the Lord had established him as king over Israel, and that his kingdom was highly exalted, for the sake of His people Israel.

3 Then David took more wives at Jerusalem, and David became the father of more sons and daughters.  4 These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem:  Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, 5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, 6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, 7 Elishama, Beeliada and Eliphelet.”  1 Chronicles 14:1-7.

“3 Behold, children are a gift of the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
5 How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
They will not be ashamed
When they speak with their enemies in the gate.”  Psalm 127:3-5.

“He will love you and bless you and multiply you;  He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your herd and the young of your flock, in the land which He swore to your forefathers to give you.”  Deuteronomy 7:13.

“1 Praise the Lord!
How blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who greatly delights in His commandments.
2 His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.”  Psalm 112:1-2.

“All your sons will be taught of the Lord;
And the well-being of your sons will be great.”  Isaiah 54:13.

“1 How blessed is everyone who fears the Lord,
Who walks in His ways.
2 When you shall eat of the fruit of your hands,
You will be happy and it will be well with you.
3 Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine
Within your house,
Your children like olive plants
Around your table.
4 Behold, for thus shall the man be blessed
Who fears the Lord.

5 The Lord bless you from Zion,
And may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.
6 Indeed, may you see your children’s children.                                                                                                                                                                      Peace be upon Israel!”  Psalm chapter 128.
