“Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; And let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”

Today’s devotion comes from Job chapter 25.

“Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,

2 “Dominion and awe belong to Him
Who establishes peace in His heights.
3 “Is there any number to His troops?
And upon whom does His light not rise?
4 “How then can a man be just with God?
Or how can he be clean who is born of woman?
5 “If even the moon has no brightness
And the stars are not pure in His sight,
6 How much less man, that maggot,
And the son of man, that worm!”  Job chapter 25.

—————————-

“Dominion and awe belong to Him
Who establishes peace in His heights.”  Verse 2.

Today’s Scripture provides a sharp contrast between God and man.  Dominion and awe belong to God.  Man is called a “maggot”, a “worm”, who cannot be just with God nor clean.

God controls even the heavens.  Man cannot control even himself.

God establishes peace.  Man disturbs and destroys.

Yet, other doctrine still trusts man, his works, and his alleged free-will.

But, Reformed Doctrine trusts God, His works, and His will.

“There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace,
On the throne of David and over his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness
From then on and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.”  Isaiah 9:7.

“Lord, You will establish peace for us,
Since You have also performed for us all our works.”  Isaiah 26:12.

“30 Tremble before Him, all the earth;
Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved.
31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
And let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”  1 Chronicles 16:30-31.

“Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you;
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.”  Psalm 55:22.
