“For the Lord has chosen Zion; … “This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.

Today’s devotion comes from Psalm chapter 132.  Here is a link to this chapter –

“13 For the Lord has chosen Zion;
He has desired it for His habitation.
14 “This is My resting place forever;
Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
15 “I will abundantly bless her provision;
I will satisfy her needy with bread.
16 “Her priests also I will clothe with salvation,
And her godly ones will sing aloud for joy.
17 “There I will cause the horn of David to spring forth;
I have prepared a lamp for Mine anointed.
18 “His enemies I will clothe with shame,
But upon himself his crown shall shine.”  Psalm 132:13-18.

God established His Son, Jesus Christ, a descendant of David, as King over His church.

God chose a people for His own possession and clothed them with salvation.

God dwells with His people as His resting place.

Does this sound like other doctrine which continually wrings it hands and worries about what man will do?

Or, does it sound like Reformed Doctrine which triumphantly and joyfully presents the sovereign God of Scripture Who accomplishes all of His desire?

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth;  for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.  And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.  And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes;  and there will no longer be any death;  there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain;  the first things have passed away.”  Revelation 21:1-4.
