“Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; … Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.”

Today’s devotion comes from Isaiah 65:17-25.

17 “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth;
And the former things will not be remembered or come to mind.
18 “But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create;
For behold, I create Jerusalem for rejoicing
And her people for gladness.
19 “I will also rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in My people;
And there will no longer be heard in her
The voice of weeping and the sound of crying.
20 “No longer will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days,
Or an old man who does not live out his days;
For the youth will die at the age of one hundred
And the one who does not reach the age of one hundred
Will be thought accursed.
21 “They will build houses and inhabit them;
They will also plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
22 “They will not build and another inhabit,
They will not plant and another eat;
For as the lifetime of a tree, so will be the days of My people,
And My chosen ones will wear out the work of their hands.
23 “They will not labor in vain,
Or bear children for calamity;
For they are the offspring of those blessed by the Lord,
And their descendants with them.

24 It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer;  and while they are still speaking, I will hear.  25 The wolf and the lamb will graze together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox;  and dust will be the serpent’s food.  They will do no evil or harm in all My holy mountain,” says the Lord.”  Isaiah 65:17-25.

Although there are promises in today’s Scripture that will only be fulfilled in Heaven or fulfilled to the fullest extent in Heaven such as in verses 19, 20, and 25, there are promises in today’s Scripture that are fulfilled to some extent now, after Christ was born on the earth such as verses 21, 22, 23, and 24.

For as many as are the promises of God, in Him (Christ) they are yes;  therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.”  2 Corinthians 1:20.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;  I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”  John 10:10.

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”  Romans 8:11.

And, the importance of such a belief is that we do not reserve all of our happiness, gratitude, and praise for God until we reach Heaven.  When we are “glad and rejoice forever” in verse 18 about God has created, the “forever” includes our time now on earth.

It is true that we “keep seeking the things above, … not on the things that are on earth.”  Colossians 3:1-2.  “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;  who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.”  Philippians 3:20-21.

But, it is also true that “… everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude;”  1 Timothy 4:4.  And, “… since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe;”  Hebrews 12:28.

13 Do return, O Lord;  how long will it be?
And be sorry for Your servants.
14 O satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness,
That we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad according to the days You have afflicted us,
And the years we have seen evil.
16 Let Your work appear to Your servants
And Your majesty to their children.
17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us;
And confirm for us the work of our hands;
Yes, confirm the work of our hands.”  Psalm 90:13-17.

For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;
And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace,
On the throne of David and over his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness
From then on and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.”  Isaiah 9:6-7.

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor.
He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives,
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set free those who are oppressed,
19 To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”  Luke 4:18-19.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
Who satisfies your years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.”  Psalm 103:1-5.

“But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create;
For behold, I create Jerusalem for rejoicing
And her people for gladness.”  Verse 18.
