“The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree … Planted in the house of the Lord … To declare that the Lord is upright”

Today’s devotion comes from Ezekiel chapter 41. Here is a link to this chapter – https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ezekiel+41&version=NASB

I quote only the following verses.

“It was carved with cherubim and palm trees;  and a palm tree was between cherub and cherub, and every cherub had two faces, a man’s face toward the palm tree on one side and a young lion’s face toward the palm tree on the other side;  they were carved on all the house all around.  From the ground to above the entrance cherubim and palm trees were carved, as well as on the wall of the nave.

Each of the doors had two leaves, two swinging leaves;  two leaves for one door and two leaves for the other.  Also there were carved on them, on the doors of the nave, cherubim and palm trees like those carved on the walls;  and there was a threshold of wood on the front of the porch outside.  There were latticed windows and palm trees on one side and on the other, on the sides of the porch;  thus were the side chambers of the house and the thresholds.” Ezekiel 41:18-20 and 24-26.

——————

The temple had carvings of palm trees which remind us of the righteous and their place in the house of the LORD and their function to praise the LORD.

“12 The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree,
He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Planted in the house of the Lord,
They will flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They will still yield fruit in old age;
They shall be full of sap and very green,
15 To declare that the Lord is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” Psalm 92:12-15.
