“Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.”

Today’s devotion comes from Luke 18:15-17.

“And they were bringing even their babies to Him so that He would touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they began rebuking them.  But Jesus called for them, saying, “Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.”  Luke 18:15-17.

—————–

Children receive, because they are chosen to receive, not because they earn it.

Children are like the foolish, weak, and simple (base) who are chosen by God for salvation in the following Scripture.

“For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;  but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God.”  1 Corinthians 1:26-29.

Children receive, because they are humble.  All they need to say is “Thank you Daddy!”

“…  for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”  Luke 18:14.

Other doctrine is proud of what it does through its alleged free-will.

But, Reformed Doctrine is humble and thankful for what God does through His Will.

“Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.”  Verse 17.

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.”  Luke 12:32.
