“God will surely take care of you”

Today’s devotion comes from Hebrews 11:22.

“By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the exodus of the sons of Israel, and gave orders concerning his bones.”  Hebrews 11:22.

———————

“Now Joseph stayed in Egypt, he and his father’s household, and Joseph lived one hundred and ten years.  Joseph saw the third generation of Ephraim’s sons;  also the sons of Machir, the son of Manasseh, were born on Joseph’s knees.  Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die, but God will surely take care of you and bring you up from this land to the land which He promised on oath to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob.”  Then Joseph made the sons of Israel swear, saying, “God will surely take care of you, and you shall carry my bones up from here.”  So Joseph died at the age of one hundred and ten years;  and he was embalmed and placed in a coffin in Egypt.”  Genesis 50:22-26.

By faith Joseph said these words of blessing and order concerning his bones to his children.  We particularly notice that Joseph twice said:  “God will surely take care of you”.

By faith we too say similar words of blessing to our children that God will surely take care of them and bring them to heaven.

“The righteous cry, and the LORD hears
And delivers them out of all their troubles.” Psalm 34:17.

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.”  Luke 12:32.

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”  Ephesians 2:4-7.

“This is the promise which He Himself made to us:  eternal life.”  I John 2:25.

“The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom;  to Him be the glory forever and ever.  Amen.”  2 Timothy 4:18.

“… God will surely take care of you and bring you up from this land to the land which He promised on oath to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob.”  Verse 24.
