“Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them”

Today’s devotion comes from Exodus chapter 26.  Here is a link to this chapter – https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus%2026&version=NASB1995

I quote only the following verses.

“Moreover you shall make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twisted linen and blue and purple and scarlet material;  you shall make them with cherubim, the work of a skillful workman.  …

“Then you shall make curtains of goats’ hair for a tent over the tabernacle;  you shall make eleven curtains in all.  …

…  You shall make a covering for the tent of rams’ skins dyed red and a covering of porpoise skins above.

“Then you shall make the boards for the tabernacle of acacia wood, standing upright.  …

…  Then you shall erect the tabernacle according to its plan which you have been shown in the mountain.”  Exodus 26:1, 7, 14-15, and 30.

——————–

What does the tabernacle look like?

People with long blue robes and gray hair and red caps standing upright, huddled close, facing inward together, like a football huddle.

And although heaven and earth cannot hold God, there is hope!

“Thus says the LORD,

“Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool.
Where then is a house you could build for Me?
And where is a place that I may rest?
2 “For My hand made all these things,
Thus all these things came into being,” declares the LORD.
But to this one I will look,
To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word
.” Isaiah 66:1-2.

In other words, God is pleased to dwell in His people who are humble and contrite of spirit, and who tremble at His word.

“Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”  1 Corinthians 3:16.

“And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.  And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes;  and there will no longer be any death;  there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain;  the first things have passed away.”  Revelation 21:2-4.
