“For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”

Today’s devotion comes from Leviticus 7:11-18.  Here is a link to this Scripture – https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Leviticus%207&version=NASB1995

I quote only the following verses.

“‘Now this is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings which shall be presented to the LORD.  If he offers it by way of thanksgiving, then along with the sacrifice of thanksgiving he shall offer unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers spread with oil, and cakes of well stirred fine flour mixed with oil.  With the sacrifice of his peace offerings for thanksgiving, he shall present his offering with cakes of leavened bread.  Of this he shall present one of every offering as a contribution to the LORD;  it shall belong to the priest who sprinkles the blood of the peace offerings.

‘Now as for the flesh of the sacrifice of his thanksgiving peace offerings, it shall be eaten on the day of his offering;  he shall not leave any of it over until morning.  …”  Leviticus 7:11-15.

——————

We are reminded of the manna that God provided to the sons of Israel for food in the wilderness each day.  “Moses said to them, “Let no man leave any of it until morning.”  Exodus 16:19.

“But they did not listen to Moses, and some left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and became foul;  and Moses was angry with them.”  Exodus 16:20.

Whether we receive food or other material things from God, rather than trust God to provide what we need each day, we tend to hoard them to our harm.

“For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either.  If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content.  But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction.  For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”  1 Timothy 6:7-10.

But, there is hope!

“22 The LORD’S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
” Lamentations 3:22-23.

“But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you?  You of little faith!  Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’  For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things;  for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.  But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

“So do not worry about tomorrow;  for tomorrow will care for itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own.”  Matthew 6:30-34.

“Peace I leave with you;  My peace I give to you;  not as the world gives do I give to you.  Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”  John 14:27.
