“Honor the LORD from your wealth And from the first of all your produce; So your barns will be filled with plenty And your vats will overflow with new wine.”

Today’s devotion comes from Leviticus 19:19:20-25.  Here is a link to this Scripture – https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Leviticus%2019&version=NASB1995

I quote only the following verses.

“‘When you enter the land and plant all kinds of trees for food, then you shall count their fruit as forbidden.  Three years it shall be forbidden to you;  it shall not be eaten.  But in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, an offering of praise to the LORD.  In the fifth year you are to eat of its fruit, that its yield may increase for you;  I am the LORD your God.”   Leviticus 19:19:23-25.

—————

It is tough enough to wait three years before eating any fruit.  But, that practice may yield the fruits of faith and patience.

But, then on the fourth year, we need to wait another year before eating the fruit.  “But in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, an offering of praise to the LORD.”

But, that practice of praise may remind us of the foremost command.  “Hear, O Israel!  The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!  You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.”   Deuteronomy 6:4-5.

But, there are promises!

“In the fifth year you are to eat of its fruit, that its yield may increase for you;  I am the LORD your God.”  Verse 25.

“9 Honor the LORD from your wealth
And from the first of all your produce;
10 So your barns will be filled with plenty
And your vats will overflow with new wine.” Proverbs 3:9-10.
