54 “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
55 “For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.
56 “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.
57 “As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me.
58 “This is the bread which came down out of heaven; not as the fathers ate and died; he who eats this bread will live forever.” John 6:52-58.
Certainly, it is humbling to read “you have no life in yourselves”. We would prefer to think that we have plenty of life in our own gas tank.
Yet, each day, rather each moment of each day, we must seek life in Christ: “he also will live because of Me.”
But, we think: “I have done so much! I am so good and full of life!!” Then, we read again: “you have no life in yourselves”. And, through God’s grace, we feel and realize the emptiness of our own gas tank.
So, we seek again Christ and life in Christ. We read Galatians 2:20-21. “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. “I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.”
Colossians 3:3
“For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
Romans 5:17
“For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.”
John 20:31
“but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.”
“so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
“Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.”
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.”
“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
“And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.”
